An indispensable part of today’s life is a credit card. Unfortunately, if you cancel your American Express credit card like I did, it means you cannot have access to certain services you may have taken for granted. I don’t think I realized how many of the most basic things in life relied on having a credit card, even to joining my local gym in Philadelphia. It wasn’t that long ago when cash spoke volumes, but not anymore.

It’s all very well using your Mastercard, Visa or American Express Card anywhere in the world but it is often for things you don’t actually need and with money you do not have. How many people consider the cost of paying later when they have the convenience of having now, when using their American Express credit card. In many places around the world, credit card debts are increasing at a worrying rate. It is not a lie when I say the credit card debts are the biggest worry facing the people in America.

It is for this reason I cancelled my American Express credit card. I was getting out of control with my spending because it was just so easy handing over the card. Charging everything to my card was stupid because before too long the debts just spiraled out of control. I stated to panic because the debt became so great it was impossible to pay it.

The debt refinancing service I turned to were my best hope and I managed to get the debt repayment under control. The whole situation was a nightmare. Today, I am American Express credit card and debt free. Don’t think I am making excuses when I blame my credit card because you are not taking into account basic human psychology.

When you have to pay for everything with cash, you are so much more conscious of how much it costs. Like I said before you are not as conscious of the cost when you use your credit card. I would just keep spending, not realizing until all the money was gone. So now there is no American Express credit card problem for me to worry about.

The credit card has changed the shape of shopping in today’s world. The only thing is, now that I have cancelled my American Express credit card, I’ve lost access to so many things. No, I wasn’t even able to hire a Hertz rental car, or buy tickets for a plane trip to Baltimore over the internet. It wasn’t that long ago when cash spoke volumes, but not anymore.

Using an American Express, Visa or Mastercard has become commonplace globally but we do it without thinking, do I need this and do I have the money. You cannot escape though, as the price is high when using your American Express credit card and buy it now, pay tomorrow philosophy. In many places around the world, credit card debts are increasing at a worrying rate. It is not a lie when I say the credit card debts are the biggest worry facing the people in America.

After considering this I decide to get rid of my American Express credit card at least for the present. There was nothing to stop me because I wasn’t actually taking money from my pocket. Everything went onto my card and it didn’t take long before debt went out of control. I was in a right state when I finally admitted that I couldn’t pay the debt.

Eventually, I used the services of a debt refinancing agency which enabled me to start paying some of the debt back. This is not something I ever want to happen again. The hardship was worth it though because I am now debt free and my American Express credit card is no more. Most people that have never been in this situation will think I am making excuses blaming the credit card but they are missing something important about people.

You have more control when you see the cash actually coming out of your pocket. Like I said before you are not as conscious of the cost when you use your credit card. I would just keep spending, not realizing until all the money was gone. So remember, if you don’t have an American Express card, you don’t have any worries.
